A single department site license is a smaller scope license. The term department may have different meanings at different organizations. Regardless of the terminology at your university, the following guidelines apply for a single department site license:
·The department represents a discrete group of users and does not include members from different parts of the university. If members of various departments from the university can access the software, it is not considered a single department.
The department represents a single area of research and study. If the department contains multiple areas of teaching and research such as divisions, groups, units, sections, institutes, branches, programs etc. within, it is not considered a single department.
The department includes the actual software users. A computing, administrative, systems or IT department cannot hold the license.
Schools, Faculties, Colleges, Institutes, Centres, Divisions, Programs, etc. are not typically licensed as single departments. However, if you feel your site meets the above criteria for licensing as a single department, please contact us for a review or your site. Please include your website address, a brief description of your site and the total number of members within your site.
